Hi everyone, Noah Olson here with your Local Voices update. If you’re wondering what’s happening today and in the weeks ahead in Detroit Lakes, here’s a roundup you’ll want to mark on your calendar.
🎵 Live Music & Outdoor Concerts
“Tuesdays in the Park” continue at the City Park bandshell with live music kicking off at 6:00 pm every Tuesday. Grab your chair or blanket, bring friends, and enjoy local bands under the evening sky. The series is part of the Project 412 / MusicInDL schedule. On Thursday nights, it’s time for Trucks & Tunes — food trucks and beer garden open at 5:00 pm, with music through the evening. Next Thursday, the band B2Wins takes the stage.
📅 Upcoming Highlights
- Rock the Ort at Ortenstone Gardens — August 28: live music in a garden setting, laid-back vibes and community gathering.
- Front Fenders at Detroit Lakez! at Zorbaz — September 5: classic hits by the lake, perfect for dinner or an early night out.
- Johnny Cash & Neil Diamond Tribute Show — September 2 at Zorbaz: for fans of the legends, this one’s for you.
- Kohlrabi Soup Bluegrass Band — August 28 at Long Bridge Bar & Grill Marina: foot-stomping bluegrass with lake views.
- LCN Meeting at City Hall Community Room — August 27, 8–9 am: breakfast meeting for the Lakes Country Networking group. Great way to connect if you’re local business or community-focused.
🤝 Community & Cultural Gatherings
The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce is organizing regular “:45 Fill-Up Member Meetings” for local business folks. Coming up on September 9, it’s a quick, 45-minute meeting that’s helpful if you’ve got flyers, ideas, or just want to stay plugged into what’s shaping DL.
✅ What To Know & Where
• Most outdoor music events take place at the City Park bandshell near Downtown.
• Bring cash or cards — food trucks & beer gardens are cash-friendly but not always card-ready.
• Check weather updates — outdoor events may shift or move if storms blow in.
• If you’re heading to multiple nights of music, seating is limited; early arrival helps.
If there’s something you’re curious about — volunteering, kid-friendly events, or quieter gatherings — let me know and I’ll include those in the next update. Hope to bump into you at one of these events!
